    NBC Names ‘The Biggest Loser’

    December 19, 2007

    By: Erin Moore for Body1

NBC’s program “The Biggest Loser” has become a commercial sensation – and has done so by making an important health goal fun and competitive. People who strive to lose weight and live healthier lifestyles compete on the show to lose the most weight and take home $250,000. Last night in the season four finale, Bill was the winner. He lost an impressive 164 pounds, which equals 49.1 percent of his total body weight.

On the show, exercise and a balanced diet are emphasized as the means to lose weight. Contestants work with personal trainers and nutritionists to create a get-healthy plan. Some say that keeping the weight off is a different story, since most people can’t afford such pricey consultants after airing ends. Nevertheless, The Biggest Loser brings attention to a topic in need of it, and shows that through hard work and dedication, anyone can lose weight.
