    Toy Safety This Holiday Season

    December 05, 2007

    By: Erin Moore for Body1

Food and personal care products have come under fire recently, as a result of recalls and warnings about potentially toxic ingredients. Toys have also been the subject of such worry, which has caused even more of a panic because children are affected. In response, a Web site has been launched with the purpose of allowing parents and family members to assess toy safety prior to purchase. Healthytoys.org was started by The Ecology Center in Michigan; now, they are publishing results from the testing of 12,000 popular children’s toys.

Child safety is obviously an important issue, so research products before purchasing when possible. Some ingredients to look out for include lead, polyvinyl chloride, cadmium, and arsenic. Learn more here.
