By: Erin Moore for Body1Adding to the string of recent food recalls, General Mills has announced that two of their frozen pizza products may be contaminated with E-Coli. Anyone who has Totino’s and Jeno’s frozen pizza with pepperoni at home should remove the UPC label (bar code) from the box before discarding, and contact General Mills for replacement. GM says this recall affects about 414,000 products currently in stores.
Twenty-one people have become sick from the contamination so far, officials said. E-Coli is a bacterium that can cause serious symptoms that include dehydration and digestive problems. Children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems should take extra care. Call your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms or if you are concerned.
You can incorporate pizza into a healthy diet, but in moderation. Try to focus on fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins.
