By: Erin Moore for Body1The New York City Marathon is almost as well known as the Boston Marathon, and it is coming up this Sunday, November 4th. Thousands of runners clog the streets of New York in an event that provides the opportunity to reach personal and group goals, get fit, and support a chosen cause. The 5 Borough Challenge is a fun race-within-a-race that pits representatives from each of the five areas against each other. As any New Yorker will tell you, the reward is hard-won bragging rights.
Running a marathon isn’t the only way to set fitness goals and stay active. Start slowly and take your time. Aim for 30 to 60 minutes of activity each day. Remember, taking the stairs, gardening, and playing with the kids count.
