    Robert Goulet Awaits Lung Transplant

    October 24, 2007

    By: Erin Moore for Body1

Entertainer Robert Goulet, 73, is gravely ill and awaiting a lung transplant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his wife Vera said Tuesday. Goulet, famous for his Broadway career in acting and singing, became sick in September after performing at a concert in Syracuse, NY. He was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a condition where the lung’s air sacs become scarred; it is usually progressive and irreversible. Doctors say Goulet should recover well if a suitable donor is found.

Vera Goulet said a feeding tube was inserted two weeks ago, and she spoke with her husband at that time. “He said, 'Just give me a new pair of lungs and I'll hit the high notes until I'm 100.'"
