    Dance Your Way to Health

    October 23, 2007

The popular program “Dancing with the Stars” showcases celebrities and professional dancers as they partner to compete in a televised dancing competition. Marie Osmond, known for her acting and singing career as well as for being a member of the show business family The Osmonds, fainted last night immediately following her samba performance with partner Jonathan Roberts. Host Tom Bergeron went to commercial and explained afterward that Marie had come to in typical fashion saying, “Oh crap. This happens sometimes.”

Fainting, or syncope as it is clinically known, is a temporary loss in consciousness often brought on by shock, standing up too quickly, hyperventilation or low blood pressure. Read more here.

Many ‘Dancing’ participants have noted how readily they’ve lost weight and gotten toned during the course of the show. Dance is an excellent form of aerobic activity, and you can enjoy your own dance moves at home, or join a class. Aim for at least 30 to 60 minutes of exercise every day.
