    Teen Pregnancy and ‘Hannah Montana’

    September 24, 2007

    By: Erin Moore

Despite a plethora of rumors to the contrary, Miley Cyrus, known as “Hannah Montana” to millions of fans, is not pregnant, says her rep. The 15-year-old star of Disney’s “Hannah Montana” allegedly told teen magazine J-14, "I'm going to take good care of my baby. I've already gained seven pounds. I was in real shock when it happened accidentally. I went a little too far. I'm sorry to all of my fans." The internet has been abuzz with gossip about the young star, which is now being refuted as complete fabrication.

The daughter of country music sensation Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus is also a singer and songwriter. She is a role model to many young girls, and this admission could have had major repercussions for her budding career. The teen pregnancy rate in the United States is declining, but it is still a public health concern. Read about pregnancy and contraception, or visit the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
