By: Erin Moore for Body1Actor Colin Farrell is known for his performances – and his party boy reputation. However, in recent months he has shied away from the spotlight and is focusing on another part of his life: his son. Four-year-old James has Angelman Syndrome, a rare neuro-genetic disorder. When Farrell first revealed his son’s condition this October, he said James is doing well, his prognosis is good, and that Angelman’s is a disorder, “not a disease.” Angelman Syndrome is named after Dr. Harry Angelman, the British pediatrician who discovered the disorder in 1965. Symptoms include intellectual and developmental delays, sleep disturbances, and some other characteristics such as frequent smiling.
Farrell says he is looking forward to spending some quality time with James over the holidays.
