    Singer Lost To Prostate Cancer

    December 17, 2007

    By: Erin Moore for Body1

The world mourns singer-songwriter Dan Fogerty, who died yesterday of prostate cancer. Having struggled with the disease for three years, he had been at home with his wife in Maine in recent days. Fogerty, 56, was known for such 70s and 80s hits as "Longer," "The Power of Gold," and "Leader of the Band."

A native of Peoria, Illinois, Fogerty traveled around playing in rock bands until college, when he branched out on his own. His touching lyrics often focused on the environment and relationships.
