    Baseball Community Awaits Mitchell Report

    The use of steroids in sports has long been a source of controversy. Famous athletes have been revealed as steroid users, even after vehement denials. The apparent double murder and suicide of prowrestler Chris Benoit was one of the most high profile and tragic cases where steroids were thought to play a role. Benoit’s young son, who suffered from Fragile X syndrome, was one of the victims.

    Baseball is another sport in which steroids have become a topic of conversation. Most recently, Barry Bonds was under suspicion. This week, the baseball community awaits the release of the Mitchell Report. Former U.S. Senate majority leader George Mitchell, who was also a judge and prosecuter, has been leading the research on baseball players and steroid use. He will reveal his findings Thursday – including specific names of past and present athletes who were found to use the drugs – via a report he has worked on for nearly two years.
