    Drink Your Antioxidants This Winter

    November 26, 2007

    By: Erin Moore for Body1

The acai berry has been making headlines as the next big ‘superfood.’ Marketed as a magic elixir by some web sites, this unknown berry’s reputation has preceded it. And although acai does have healthful properties, take the promises of commercial sites with a grain of salt.

Acai berries come from a palm tree in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil. Dark red in color, they taste like a cross between berry and chocolate. Loaded with antioxidants, a powerful blend of amino acids, fiber, and healthy fats, acai is usually available in health food stores in the form of juice. Try to find an unsweetened version.
